Just in case you are curious about the two strange toads featured in the opening minutes of Life: Reborn (Animal Planet). The "waterfall" toad that was featured first is Oreophrynella macconnelli and the second is the "pebble" toad, O. nigra. The toads in the genus Oreophrynella are endemic to the strange and dramatic sandstone formations called tepuis bordering Guyana and Venezuela. O. nigra is the only species that is not restricted to solely one tepui (found on Kukenan and Yuruaní tepuis). It is likely that that these frogs undergo direct development - the young hatch as fully formed toadlets, bypassing the tadpole stage. This is a good reproductive strategy for amphibians living in hostile environments.
If you have read or watched the movie, The Lost World, it is said that the setting of the story took place on a tepui.

“If we can discover the meaning in the trilling of a frog, perhaps we may understand why it is for us not merely noise but a song of poetry and emotion.”
