    Default Which is the best?

I have decided to get a new pet...but can not decide between the following three.

    1. Red Eye Crocodile Skink
    2. Jackson's Chameleon
    3. Frilled Lizard

I have a fair amount of experience with Reptiles, so difficulty of care is not a big issue. And I plan to buy an enclosure to suit the animal, so im not limited in that way either.

My question is, do you have experience with any of these animals, and what are the pros and cons. What would you get?

I have experiences with Chamaeleo jacksonii. I love them. They are little tree dwelling Triceratops. They are so cool to watch them eat. They do need good ventilation and UVB lighting. So keep that in mind.

I heard that Chamaeleo jacksonii are easily stressed. Handling them and keeping them in a high traffic area is supposed to be really bad. But I did meet a guy who had one living among the ficus trees in his living room. It was super social and would even climb onto a strangers hand....completely opposite from everything I read. What was yours like?

I make no claim to being an expert on keeping reptiles, as I'm squarely in the amphibian-interest camp, but I would go with the skink from an ease of maintenance and robustness point of view.

    Hi,

Jackson's vary, as noted by other responders, but most I've dealt with have needed a great deal of room, shelter (dense plantings) and a quiet environment. The tree setup you mention is ideal, they often adjust well to that, and will show themselves - in general not at al an animal to handle, however.

Croc skinks fascinating but usually shy and retiring, largely nocturnal and need cool temps, in contract to most lizards.

Frilled lizards need lots of space, especially height, high tempos, hi UVB - please see my article on Frilled Dragons for details,

    Enjoy!

Your link isn't working for me. I am really interested too. We sell frilled dragons, but I actually know very little about them. I've handled them less than any of our lizards.
