Here is Maxine sleeping on her favorite leaf. She still has small scars, which may go away eventually.
She was injured while I was cleaning her tank. She jumped while I was replacing some of her vines, and I accidentally scraped her side with one of her vines. The very corner of her eye was also badly injured.
I treated her for 6 weeks with Silversulfadiazene cream and NeoPoly eye drops.
I kept her enclosure super clean, changed paper-towel substrate daily, and vigorously cleaned her water dish daily.
I think she's forgiven me...
And, some pics from after her accident.

Oh wow! I am glad she is ok. Will you get her a friend? It may help her heal. What will you change the next time you clean her aquarium so she won't get touched by the vines? Did you take her to a vet? Can you let me know how she is doing now? I just hope she makes a recovery alright.
Hi Hoppity:
Thanks.
She is all healed. The bottom pics are of her now, and the top pics are of her injury and the progress of the healing. Her injury took place 6 weeks ago.
She used to have friend, but he died sadly after only 2 days in our home. He was already sick when I brought them home. I don't know if I'll get her friend again. I live in the desert southwest, and don't see red-eyes around here often. Also, it's probably too cold to ship one now.
Also, Red-Eyes tend to do fine solo, they don't have emotions like humans, and do not get lonely. Having a 'friend' would probably not help one heal, but cause stress. Usually when a frog is injured like this, they would be separated anyway in a solo hospital tank.
I've gotten rid of that awful sand-paper vine which caused the injury, and now have her on a false bottom substrate with springtails and isopods, and many plants, so I will not need to change/clean her enclosure as often.
I did not take her to the vet, I worked with Dr. David Frye in Milan MI who sent me meds through the mail. Unfortunately, no vet in my town was willing to treat a Red-Eye tree frog. 'too exotic'.
She is doing great now, and has made a full recovery.

I'm so happy you wrote and made changes. Interesting story you have about buying a frog that was already sick and it is sad they are sick and shipped places anyway. I hate knowing they die under this circumstance. My frogs get along very very well. Maybe when yours is better you would consider getting a friend frog. I am glad you removed the vines. My tank had real plant strands in the water and fake soft green plant on land, makes it more natural for them. If you have any questions or can update me I'd be happy to write again. Thanks
This is so good to hear . She is looking so much better. Great job!!!!
