Hi Hoppity:
Thanks.
She is all healed. The bottom pics are of her now, and the top pics are of her injury and the progress of the healing. Her injury took place 6 weeks ago.
She used to have friend, but he died sadly after only 2 days in our home. He was already sick when I brought them home. I don't know if I'll get her friend again. I live in the desert southwest, and don't see red-eyes around here often. Also, it's probably too cold to ship one now.
Also, Red-Eyes tend to do fine solo, they don't have emotions like humans, and do not get lonely. Having a 'friend' would probably not help one heal, but cause stress. Usually when a frog is injured like this, they would be separated anyway in a solo hospital tank.
I've gotten rid of that awful sand-paper vine which caused the injury, and now have her on a false bottom substrate with springtails and isopods, and many plants, so I will not need to change/clean her enclosure as often.
I did not take her to the vet, I worked with Dr. David Frye in Milan MI who sent me meds through the mail. Unfortunately, no vet in my town was willing to treat a Red-Eye tree frog. 'too exotic'.
She is doing great now, and has made a full recovery.
