Default Kibbits Croaks a Hello to the forum!

Hello! As you know, I recently found out that I was the proud parent of a little girl (Igby) and a little boy (Kibbits). Since we bought them at the same time, and Igby was about twice the size of Kibbits then, we figure if she was going to croak, she would have done so by now.

Nonetheless, little Kibbits is extremely excited about showing off his new talent. Each night, we'll "croak" a hello to him, and he'll croak back with quite a bit of vigor. It always becomes a competition of who is louder! Now, I don't know how trainable a frog is, but I could swear he's learned that if he croaks at night, we'll come over to peek at the tank. Every night, around feeding time, he'll start to croak, and when we go over to look, he's right by the glass starring out at us like he's saying, "HEY! Feed me!!" I kid you not, on the nights that are not "feeding days," he'll sit by the glass croaking on and off for a few minutes until he finally gives up and moves somewhere else! We've got to say, for all our earlier concerns that he wasn't getting his share of crickets (with Igby being bigger)...he's definitely had to go on a diet lately. Getting a tad on the pudgy side :P

Anyways, I thought I would share a little recording! Enjoy! I'd love to hear your expert frog translations

Haha! Are you kidding John? ; ) I used Elvis to help entice Kibbits into speaking up louder! Haha! I would play those videos full volume to see if he'd respond! Never worked, but I enjoyed watching the videos anyhow. I sent them out to friends when I wanted to show an example of my new "family members." Very engaging to see Elvis and Priscilla interact! Hopefully, soon, I'll be able to post some of my own. The irony is that I do not own a normal home video camera because of my profession (news videographer), so it takes a lot longer for me transfer my video! What I love most about Elvis is the little mini croaks he does in response to his owner. Very fun!

my Dumper is the same way. When I pick him up, he's already getting ready to croak... he stares right at me following my movement, puffs his sides in and out building up air and when I start, he repeats. I love that little guy.

Hehe, i played this sound clip and all 5 of my whites started croaking! This is a little off topic but does anyone else find it impossible to find female Whites Tree Frogs in pet stores? Ive been keeping Whites since I was a kid, and I have never owned a female. I am certain because they all croak loudly at night....

Thanks for listening to all of you, and really fun to hear your stories too. They really do develop such a personality in your mind, you know? : ) Julia, that's really neat to hear that Kibbits seemed to have a reaction on your little family! I'm sure he'd be 'thrilled' with his ability, the little egomaniac - hahaha!

As far as your comment Julia, I must have really lucked out because I got one of each this pairing. Course, given that you have 7 currently, all male.....I don't know what to tell you! Perhaps next time you should choose a frog on gut...then go with a different one (healthy of course) since it seems you have a knack for picking the boys!
