I just changed my frogs substrate and he has been in it for a few hours, but heard squealing and do not know if this is normal thanks. Does this mean that it is a boy? And the frog was at the top of substrate and not dug under the substrate.

You've probably got a male. Females don't call. Did it sound similar to this? Pacman Mating Calls - YouTube he starts calling around 40 secs.
I agree with Pluke. Males when the first start learning to call sound like a teenager going through puberty Lol! Once he perfects his call it will sound less squeaky and more like a croak. Cranwelli can sometimes sound like those wooden train whistles.
It sounded a lot less developed than the video croak

Lovenokia, I think you are going to have to accept the fact that you have a male Cranwelli thats either full grown or nearly full grown. He will still make an awesome pet, and like I said earlier if you are still hung up on getting a massive Pacman (Which I understand, I love massive frogs to) then get a female Ornate. As long as it wont compromise the care of your Cranwelli. Best way to tell if its male or female is checking for nuptial pads near the thumb.
