im try gather all the stuff so i can get a colony from a fellow fourm goer but need a good recipe for there food and can i use the same green gut load for them as i did for the crickets?
Quality dog and cat kibble, fish food, non-medicated chicken starter, baby cereals and online formulated gutloads for insects all work to maintain roaches. The better the quality of gutload, the better the feeder will be for your herp. Anything you could feed to crickets to maintain them can work for roaches, but keep in mind not all gutloads sold at pet stores are created equal ; )
Be sure to offer a moisture source...which can certainly double up as a gutload. Dark leafy greens are best, along with any kind of vegetable or fruit (avoid avocado, nuts, and rhubarb, and anything toxic obviously). I usually just throw fruits and veggies that are starting to turn or become overly ripe to my roaches as a moisture source. If you cannot keep a consistent supply of fruits or veggies to feed a couple of times weekly, consider keeping a dish of water crystals in the bin with hte roaches.
