Hi, This is my frog Rick. I changed his water this morning and he looked perfectly normal. but when i got home from school he has all these light blue blotches all over him!! I have never seen this before and I have owned him for 3 years. The other two frogs look fine. His behaviour is the same, and he is still eating. I am worried this might be a fungal infection of some sort, but i'm not sure where he would have got it from? has anyone seen this before or have any suggestions for me?? I am soo worried!!!
Thanks
I'm sorry your baby is sick. He is still eating and that is a good sign. I would suggest quarantining him in another tank until you figure out what is wrong so the other frogs don't get sick. I wish I could be more helpful but I don't know much about frog illnesses. Can you take him to a vet?
Looks like a bacterial infection. I would quarantine him. Use just the basics: clean tank, lid, paper towel substrate, water dish, back and side wall coverings, thermometer and hygrometer. He'll need some antibiotics. Can you take him to a vet?
I would also change the substrate and wipe down the walls of your current tank to be safe.

Hmmm, when I look closer, could also be fungal. Either way, he'll likely need metronidizole treatment. I'd also recommend silversulfadiadene cream. A vet can prescribe these for you.

Hi emer,
Sunshine and Heather are right , he needs to be remove into a quarantine tank. For the sake of all your frogs.
I would breakdown their existing tank , sterilize it and everything in it as well ! If you have been considering a new enclosure, this might be a great time to get it !
Boil all the deco . If there are objects that can not withstand boiling ,soak/rinse in a very weak bleach solution ( rinse, rinse, rinse) than throw them away .
If you are comfortable with it, you could post their tank size and a description of your cleaning habits.. etc. This information may help determine how to tweak your efforts in caring for them.
Here is information for a vet in the US you ,may be , able to speak to via email. He is very caring.
At the very least, he will point you in the right direction as your frog does need a vet. He will get better with the proper medication.

How old do you think he is?
You could try a honey bath. The honey has some anti-fungal properties. However this is NOT a cure!

Thanks everyone. I have moved him to a separate terrarium. The other two frogs appear to be fine, but i Have scrubbed out their tank as well.
I am taking him to a vet that sees exotics today, from talking with the reptile specialist at my local pet store he seems to think that is most likely a fungal infection.
I gave him some crickets this morning, and he ate so I'm hoping that's a good sign....
Yes, that's a very good sign. You've caught this nice and early. He'll have more strength to fight it. Please keep us updated. I hope your baby starts feeling better soon.

Well the vet said she thinks its most likely a fungal infection. She has taken a swab sample to be analyzed and said she will be getting back to me within a couple of days. She told me she didn't think I needed to worry over this waiting time. I was also told to still keep him separate from the others until we find out what it is. I will post back once I get the results. Here's hoping its sooner than later. My poor little Rick James
I am glad Rick James is getting the care he needs. You are a good froggie owner! I love the name btw!

I'm happy to know your frog is getting treatment and you separated him. I wanted to know if there were any changes in your frogs' habitat that you can think of? Were they all purchased or all added to your tank at the same time? New food? Add any new decorations? or plants? There must be a list of frog illnesses on the internet, maybe with pictures. Hope you let us know what it is. Glad your guy is doing alright.
yea good luck with everything please keep us posted with how it all turns out.
