Salt water tank

Yea i mean i wanna use one. But I don't plan on using any water in it, other than the waterfall/bowl that i built. And i plan on cleaning it really good if i get it. I was just wondering because my friend has a 40 gal. hex saltwater tank that he said he'll give me. Just wanna make sure i can use it first lol.

Yup, you'll be ok. There's no difference between a salt water or fresh water tank when they are empty. A tank is a tank as far as that goes. There are "reef ready" tanks, they they are just a standard tank with built in overflows, nothing more.

Yea, no problems in that case. A free tank is the best kind.

Well i took a chance and ive got two green tree frogs and 2 american toads and 2 house geckos.. I know its not a good idea to mix them but they been in the same tank since august and i have yet to have any problems. the toads and the gecko share this big log thing i made and the two frogs hang out on it every once in a while but they mostly hang out in the flower pots i have molded on to the sides of the tank. but yea i just decided to try mixing them with each other and the local vet said as long as i keep it at the good temp for all of them then they should be ok. But to also keep an eye out for none of them eating, which there all fat as hell and eat any thing they can get into there mouths. lol. Oh and the tank was a 55 gal that my friend had made him selt for his salt water fish. right now im using a 45 gal tank.

That sounds like a really cool setup. I always felt that we are a bit too uptight sometimes about mixing species. The other parts of the world seem to be more laid back about it. If it has been working for you then kudos my friend, kudos!!

I dont have a phone any more to take pics with but if ya look at my albums i have a pic of my old set up, which had 2 tree frogs, and one house gecko in it. I think it was only like a 7.5 gal tank. And they seemed to really like it. the gecko was always out which i thought was odd but i guess since there was enough cover he felt safe? But i keep my room pretty cold so i use a heat bulb thats a little on the strong side to make sure there tank stays around 75-80 and at night it'll drop to like 65 in it. and what are some good vine kind of plants to plant in the tank also?

And bill the pet shop up the road from me mainly sells amphibians and reptiles. And keep the house geckos and green tree frogs in the same tank for selling. Im guessing it's really a matter of opinion? But yea man so far no problems with the toads, frogs, or the gecko.
