I believe you can by their heads, I think Ornates have wider flatter heads while Cranwelli's have slightly taller heads and more pointed horns. I remember reading a book on them and it showed the three species, all headshots next to each other, and there was a noticable difference. That and the colour usually gives it away.
My first guess was a Ornate cause of the big head versus his body, I found the cranwellis have bigger bodies than heads and Ornates have it the other way around, but thats just what I've seen lol, that and alot of Ornates (once again what have witnessed) have red tints, so that being said now I am thinking its a cranwelli, and unless you bought it from a dealer, most petstores sell Cranwellis, because there cheaper, I've even seen them labelled "argentine horned frog" and its a cranwelli. So it's proably a cranwelli. But I'm no expert lol. That's my suggesstion.
I think if you had a straighter front view it would be easier lol. That and she/he is very young.
But cute nontheless!!
The decorations have in their majority two black circles behind his eyes, they're always green, black and sometimes red in his belly are white and yellow.
I have seen many in my life I'm Argentine. and I can recognize with a single view, also helps a lot for me to know where they are. For me his is a cranwelli.
Definitely C. cranwelli.
