Boaman-
How man FBTs do you have? Do you find uneaten crickets? Are you feeding your crickets (otherwise you have toads eating an "empty" diet)? Are they young (juveniles eat more food, more often)? Are your toads active or lethargic? Are your FBTs overly rotund? Each FBT is different in size, hunting skills, etc. I have one FBT that is quite rotund but she is 1) a very popular female (if you get my meaning) and 2) an excellent hunter. Another of my females is just large in size in general- she gets a bit bigger when the boys start barking but stays about the same shape. Then I have two boys. Both are quite sleek, one is a quick hunter with the crickets and the ladies. The other is not as good of a hunter, I try to allow him to work on his hunting skills but if I notice that he hasn't gotten any crickets I make sure he does. So, are you over feeding? Maybe. I know that doesn't help much- but honestly, like I said, it depends on your toad. There does come a point where one can say for certain it's too much- like 3 crickets/3 times a day/ every day WOULD be too much. As you can see, there are many things to consider. But yes, you are right that many FBTs act as though they have never eaten when the crickets get thrown in- but that's just how they are, don't let that be the gage. Remember, even though they are "pets" they still have it engraved in their brains to eat as much as they can b/c who knows when food is coming around a gain.
