Hello all,
It has been awhile sine I have posted on here, but I have been lurking. I had a mister set up to my pyxie tank which was working well until the mister became a fire hazard. I do plan to return this item and try again, but in the mean time I have been misting the cage heavily at least once a day(twice when I have the time). I have a 30 gallon tall tank with a large zoo med heat pad mounted on the side just above the substrate line. My pyxie never gets too close to the pad and has a cozy hole he has dug himself near the pad. the other side is lit up with two outdated reptiglos that I use to keep the fern alive. (there is most likely little UVB output in these old lights)
Okay with that said, I notice that my pyxie has been spending a lot of time in his water bowl that is directly under the lights I have. I assume he is doing this because I no longer have the mister in there. on the other hand, I want to make sure it is safe for him to be in the water dish for a few days in a row. I take him out every other day to clean out the dish, but it has been on my mind. His eating has not changed and his poops are very plentiful.
I figure I could throw this out there and anyone with ideas or suggestions could ease my speculation.
current night temp of the substrate is 77.5 and ambient is 79 Fahrenheit. day temp ranges between 79-82 substrate and 82-85 ambient
