Then like if it couldn't get any worse I found a dead pacman in an aquarium and the workers there had no idea it was dead. It had flies all over it. The store isn't very big at all so for them to be careless and not even spray the frogs was surprising.

I went ahead and took a picture for those of u who care to see this dead pacman. I have honestly never seen a dead pacman beforeName: IMAG0361-1.jpg

The pic is confusing the **** out of me. It looks like TWO photos blended together or maybe a stylish photoshop ghost frog? Maybe I just had a stroke (would suck being an otherwise healthy 26 year old), but the photo doesn't look right, but not for the reasons you described.

Poor thing : c that's so messed up. If they don't have the time or the heart to take car of their animals then why work or own a exotic store in the first place.

There was a glare on the glass. That's why the picture looks that way

the picture was taken from the outside of the tank so there is a reflection of the floor + whats behind Infamous as he took the pic. I would say talk to the manager and threaten to report it to the aspca but if the toad went so long to actually die and the tanks are dry its obvious neglect. And neglect doesnt happen over the span of 24 hours, it happens over weeks, months, years. However long it has been goin on, its obviously been TOO long. This is b***s*** and deserves swift consequences not a chat and a handshake so i say immediately report it because as Pluke has said, if its alredy killed one pet you know the neglect and carelessness has been affecting the entire store for sometime.

It's pretty stupid on their part because I actually bought my fantasy and pixie from their shop a long time ago and they were telling me about how I needed to keep them moist etc and then for them to have their animals this way was hard to understand.

Those inexcusable conditions, I mean we all know how hard it is to mist a flippin habitat and it ain't that hard. Open the lid and viola spray and done. And change water, OMG you could tell a 3yr. old to do a better job AND it would be done. I would report them ASAP you don't know if they're neglect will lead to future death and disease.

I also have a pet store like that. The food is like ¢50 but they've got dead puppies and kittens and a giant Albino Catfish that's EXTREMELY rare but is housed in an Aquarium so small it can't even turn around and the Fickenz Douffstez even has a pile of dead puppies and kittens, it smelled so bad it was getting slapped with roadkill skunk after 10 days in the sun. My regrets is that they've gone into hiding and can't be located.

F*** this. These pet stores neglect the herps and then give terrible information on care to the buyers. I'm so tired of seeing posts like this. Then every other day there's someone new on the board whose frog is on the verge of dying because they were following the advice of someone who didn't have a clue about the animal they were selling. Is it so hard for these people to take a few hrs of their time and learn something about the animals that they are trying to make money off of? It's pathetic really. I myself was a victim of bad advice. I was told to put my frog on moss and that I didn't need any supplemental heating. Was also told to use a diet of mealworms and crickets and wasn't told anything about what kind of water to use. Luckily I found this forum a day after I bought my frog and had the money to address all of the problems. Something needs to be done, I wish I knew what and how to start to make a change... Anyone have any ideas? I'm not talking about one store, I'm talking about a way to fix the problem as a whole..

Zuh? Amphibians and reptiles take some degree of specialized care, not many know much about them, and are more sensitive to environmental factors. But... How the **** did they have dead puppies and kittens? There's a LOT of reasons they are the most common pets, but one of the big ones is they pretty much just need food/water/shelter. When I was growing up we had dogs/cats and I have a freshly minted (chuckle) puppy. I will say puppies are messier than amphibs/reptiles, and anyone who's ever seen a crazy cat lady knows that the furries can take it. Crowd the number of frogs that crazy cat ladies crowd cats into a comparable (by size/whatever) enclosure, and you have a lot of dead frogs.
