My tree frog has gotten very skinny and even surrounded by about 10 crickets practically crawling on him, he wont eat. he almost tries to go for them but seems to weak to catch one.
Look at pics and please give me suggestions. I live in mission viejo, california and my normal vet i dont think does frogs.
has anyone taken their frog to a vet, do they really look at them or laugh cause its such a small animal?
Oh goodness!!!How long has he been sick? Yes, I have taken my frogs to the vet. Your baby is extremely sick and needs a vet right away! I would take him today or first thing tomorrow if I were you.

ok, for a few weeks. i didnt know if a vet would actually look at a frog and if they can do anything. do they have meds for teeny frogs? like drops in mouth or something?
They will usually do small drops on the skin or oral medications, depending on the illness. I would call your vet before you go to see if they treat frogs.

It is best to deal with their illnesses when you first notice them bc it's hard for them to fight when they get very bad.

Yes they will prescribe meds for your frog. He definitely needs to go to the vet as soon as possible. Good luck!
You're little frog needs to get a vet ASAP! I would call your normal vet and ask if they treat frogs and if not they should be able to give you the name of someone that does. In the meantime you should give him a pedyalite bath. 1 part pedyalite to 10 parts warm spring or treated water. This will help perk him up a bit. Don't let him sit in the bowl with crickets crawling over him, the crickets will bite him and cause more problems. If he won't hunt on his own try tong feeding him. Make sure the crickets are dusted with calcium. Lack of calcium could cause muscle weakness and bone loss. When you do bring him to the vet, try to bring a fecal sample too so that they can check for parasites.
I struggled with bringing my frog to the vet for the first time, people thought I was crazy and kept saying "it's just a frog" but we chose them as our pets so it's up to us to take care of these little guys. Trust me the vet won't laugh at you, they told me that people actually bring fish in!
Good luck, I hope you can get some help for froggie.
