    Default Help urgent!!!

I came home today and Citrus is spread out in his bowl and it's bone dry. I filled it up yesterday. He didn't move so I sprayed him and he gasped for air. Now I have put him in a warm bath and tilted it so his body is underwater but not his head because he can't move. He opens his mouth every few minutes. What should I do? I don't think he is going to make it.

Edit: His soil is moist so I'm surprised if he is dehydrated.

    I think he's dead.

His left side is bloated. He had a rat which I admit was far to big for him 2 weeks ago but he has pooped it out since then and has been hopping around at night only 2 nights ago.

I don't understand what's wrong. He was perfect yesterday.

I'm sorry Jack. Can you post a picture of Citrus? I would like to see if there is any signs of illness.

I don't understand how it went dry either. It's very shallow but it usually takes 2 or 3 days to dry up. Even though it was dry I don't get why that would harm him because his soil is moist. Here is a picture. It's so sad.

Edit:I closed his eyes, they were open when he died. He died about 15 minutes after I got home. I bet if I had just filled the bowl up and not moved him he would have soaked it up and lived a bit longer.

Wow hard to believe, and sorry for your loss. Your frog looked to be in good condition too. I do know that these frogs will take on water when toxxing out. Could be why the water bowl was drying out so fast. Does Citrus feel squishy like full of water?

His color looks good so I don't think there was a liver issue. Toxing out is a good possibility, but he wouldn't have went so fast unless he had already been poisoned. Normally they can be revived and have a good chance of survival if caught early. At this point there is no sure way of knowing cause of death without a necropsy.

    I'm sorry Jack.

Well Jack; this is certainly a perplexing event. Agree with Colleen/Jerrod and only way to know is conducting a necropsy. Have heard of "Sudden Death Syndrome" but that dry bath dish is still a mystery.

By any chance; have anything different happened in the frogs room last few days? Think in terms of deodorizers, carpet cleaners, painting; anything that involves chemicals or fumes. Also, check your dechlorinator to make sure it's dates are good.

Nope nothing. His water bowl is still moist today so I am still amazed how it dried up so quickly. He can't have been dehydrated because his soil was moist and he had a soak a few days earlier. He will be missed. R.I.P. Citrus.
