Hi Lynn,
How are your little ones doing?thanks for the suggestions. I will go ahead an drop them Both a line. Iv had a smaller tank iv grown out an set up Ooooo 5 months ago an it looks all pretty an green but needs some life. An even though I am not much of a dart frog lover an have always been so captivated by tree frogs. I am still a frog lover <3 lol. An when I saw these lil mints I knew they were for me
. Sad thing is o waited months an months for my local reptile show to come thru town an nothing.
total bummer! No mints, no super tiger legs. Kinda a rip! So patients is a vertue an iv been doing my HW. But these mints are in no way common. OF Course... That being my luck I found 1 in Vegas but it's an adult an I have reservations about it. Since I'd prefer froglets an a nice lil group an raise them up an watch them thrive an grow
). So thank you for the well wishes. Once I do find them I will share
).
Hi Pinkfeet,
So true ...I love my tree frogs as well. Really hooked !
Last night my black eyed tree frogs were having a party....I wonder what the celebration was.
I heard them calling( including one of my froglets that I got in May from M Novy ) I got up 3X to see what all the commotion was. They would not share. They would clam up the second I got down stairs! I think there may have been wine in the soaking dishes!!!!
Anyway ...I got this itch to consider darts several months ago. I love all the plants and planting.
(You may or may not know ....I keep , more or less, substrate free tree frog enclosures.)
So, I got the 1st tank I was planning to use for a small unknown ( at the time ) group, which ended up being my leucs. I fell in love. It's like a full time 'frog movie". They are ,just, adorable -----and entertaining.
Then came the the Hamburg Show. And, then came my pair of Ranitomeya imitator "Varadero" ( bred by John Clare) , and the trio of D. auratus ( green/black) bred by a friend of Michael's. They are all doing well ---still in quarantine for a while longer. I want to give the enclosures a while longer to grow out and cycle. John's bred "Varadero" ( thumbnails ) -- so tiny- but very bold. I am officially hooked !!!!! I am thrilled to have them, too. John is a very generous and caring person.
A few of us met at the Hamburg Show in PA... we had a great time. Heatheranne, John Clare, Bruce, Michael Novy, myself and a friend of Michael's. This friend of Michael's had /traded w/ someone ? for the mints. Hence, is the reason I suggested you drop them a PM. They are beautiful. You will not be sorry. You're right, they are worth the wait. They are not as small as you might think. What size enclosure are you considering. The enclosures take some so long to get established....You could start now!
I collected things for my new enclosures for months and months !!!
All sales receipts, for some reason, never made it into the house
Have fun
Lynn

Hi Lynn,
Hooked is deffinatly the wordever since my first whites when I was it!!! But forums like this were not availible back then or if they were I was not aware so it was allot of old school hitting the library or book store an reading reading.
but it's more then a blessing to have a site like this incase u ever have a question or issue that just stumps you. An I'm sure I'll be posting allot about darts as I go thru my build an once I do finally get them when things r ready.
Haha that is funny! Wine in the soak bowl. Lol. Ya my 2 lil guys boy do they get loud some nights. Pea-body is always a very talkative little guy. Iv yet to hear anything from harlo (name may or may not change once we know the gender) harlo is my lil red eye morph I picked up in September at or reptile expo here in sacromento cali. An mine don't like to share either it's Luke if they see I notice them or am checking up on them it's like they Go into frezze statue mode! Lol.
But I have been thinking about darts for a while. Iv always loved there colors but I think I was always some what intimidated by them plus I would not of had the time to put in the nessasary attention an work like I do now. Witch we both know is very important. About a year ago my life was work work work! Being a corperate auditor. But once I got prego with my lil angel Gia. ( who is going to lov frogs by the way) lol myself an my hubby decided it was time to b at home an b a mommy an work from home an finally open my pink feet Buissness. I know I don't mention it on my page witch I need to update an fill with pictures but I breed Pomeranians. Spunky lil fluff balls I call them hehe. They r a joy. An idk how I balance it all. Pomeranians, my 4 month old daughter Gia, part time work, Buissness, home life, cows, chickens, an my hubby's rots when he is away of Buissness an we can't forget my loves. My froggies.. But if you get a routine it can go pretty smoothly.
.. Sooo needless to say I live on a farm. Literally. Lol. But it's wounderful. My hubby an I are both animal lovers so it is a good match. He still does not share my passion for frogs but he is coming around to it little by little. An haha the receipts never make it to my house either. Nor the credit card statement lol
tehehe.
Wow that show must of been a blast. I would of loved to have been a fly on the wall around u all. Sadly here in Cali iv yet to find any real breeders or enthusiastic an knowledgable owners. Idk if it's just this side of the country there is less of a market or passion for these guys or what. About 2 hours away in the east bay for years I have been in contact with the guys at the east bay vivarium witch is where I have gotten allot of my frogs in the past. But places like that are few an far apart. Even at the expo I would say maybe 5% were frogs an almost all the tree frogs I saw were not in the greatest of health. Since I got my harlo she has looked so much better. Deffinatly saved her. But I took the opportunity at the expo to chit chat with anyone who had darts.an a gentlemen who's name escapes me at the moment has orange T. An adults as well so I have taken into consideration there size but I think that's what I like as well.
) but once I did more research an discovers the mints. Ooooooo I was sooo hooked! I was like they must b mine lol!!! There faces there color, a shade only mother nature could creat. The fact that they look like something come to life out of a Tim buerton movie!! So captivating but wicked cool. My mind was set. But I have found they r just not that common. Sort of like my next tree frog project. But we can get into that later (cinnamon tree frogs)
).
I have started my tank. It is my first non-vertical build. Deffinatly something different for me but I figured it can't be any more complicated then my mossy tree frog set up. Pump an an filter wise. The landscaping though will b a thrill to set up an watch it growI too have been buying ghost wood an plants an other emenaties for a while. I have a 30gal breeder tank I have started already. I have my great stuff setting in with my pots an drain tubing right now. My first attempt with great stuff so we will see how it goes. I want a very lush green lil environment for these guys. Witch I have decided will go on a peninsula we have here in the house. My hubby just is not aware of this yet but he will come to love it lol. I just ordered a ton of plants from Josh. That price will remain a mystery lol. So hopefully once the foam has set I can start filling it in after I silicone an coco fiber my background.

I stopes both of them a line. Still no response. I have contacted a few other breeders to see if they might know anyone. Fingers crossed. Even if they have breeding planned sometime in the next year that would be great. An yes I have noticed u do keep ur tree frogs without a substraight. How did you come about doing it this way? I'm sure it has it's share of benefits. Iv always grown my tanks in so much with moss an firn an other plants an added spring tails. But iv never thought to ex out the substraight. Very interesting.![]()
Thank you for all the insight
