Hard to believe that they are Hylids and not Ranids. They do look a lot like American bullfrogs and green frogs in head shape, which are Ranids.

No, not at all. They just look way too much like a Ranid and not a Hylid. According to their taxonomic name, Litoria raniformis (Keferstein, 1867) ,it would appear someone else, Wilhelm Moritz Keferstein, thought so too.
He HeI was joking. Allot of pic Ive seen of Ranids are not as lean as Hylids. I do see what you mean.

Kurt, I looked up Wilhelm Moritz Keferstein on the net as i was interested in what he had to say in reference to this, but I could not find it. I imagine it was in German anyway. Have you read his book?
