Reciently got a 10 gal tank to use with my 55gal saltwater tank, however the wife has convinced me to use it to make a frog tank for our 3yr old to have in his room. I am not new to aquariums but I am new to frogs. So please bare with me as I pick your brains and post stupid questions

I'm pretty sure it will be fire belly toads...they seem to be easily accessible in the local pet market

Those are probably the best option for many reasons, they are easy to care for, they are diurnal which means you'll see them active during the day and they look cool too. I think I had some of these as my first frogs. I'm sure your 3 year old will love watching them.
