Hi, I was wondering about African Dwarf Frogs and their age. I've got two questions: 1. Is there any trick to telling the age of the ADF's? and 2. Do pet stores carry ADF's of a variety of different ages of just babies/adults? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks![]()
Petsmart only seems to carry very young ADF, I've not seen them anywhere else. I doubt there is any way to know the exact age of any frog. I would just start with young frogs they do not take long to reach max size (which isn't very big anyways).
They reach sexual maturity at 9 months. Mature males are smaller than females and will have a post axillary subdermal gland, a pinkish "pimple" near their arm pit. Mature females will have a swollen cloaca (vent). It is very difficult to determine the age or sex of juvenile frogs.
