Default Red eye tree frog feeding questions

I got a red eye tree frog 3 days ago. All hes done so far is sleep on the glass.
I woke up this morning and he was sleeping on the ground so I thought maybe he was up trying to look for food.

How should i feed these types of frogs? For my others, i simply put in a cricket, as it walks by them they eat it.
But this is my first tree frog, so i dont know if the same goes for them.

    So my questions are
What is the best way to feed the frog?
Should i keep him in his enclosure when i feed him?
Are pinhead crickets the right food, should i try fruit flies?

Ive only had him for 3 days, so ill still wait another 4 days before i start to get concerned with him not eating.
I just need to be sure im feeding him properly, let me know guys! Thanks!

    Hello,
    Welcome to Frog Forum.

Please read both of these treads- The care sheet being the most important.
    http://www.frogforum.net/tree-frogs/...caresheet.html

I know you don't have "trouble", necessarily, but this will really help you.
If you could cut, paste, and answer these questions red eyed tree frog owners will respond and help to identity the things that might need some fine tuning!!!

Your new red eye tree frog should remain in a quiet place---cover three sides of the tank. ( ie brown paper bag)
Resist handling him or disturbing him unless absolutely necessary, he will come around.
While you are getting to know your frog, it might be best to have a damped paper towel bottom/ substrate.
The advantages to this is you are able to monitor food intake and poop !
The size of the cricket depends on the size of the frog. Best to feed on the smaller size if you are not sure.
A must ! ............dust the crickets with calcium and vitamins !!!!
( common suggest is that the cricket should fit in the space between the eyes)
Measure your frog form the tip of the nose to the end of its body and post a photo or two ! We would love to meet him

The bowl method of feeding works very well with red eyed tree frogs. ( put the dusted crickets in a clear glass bowl w/ about a 3" side)
The frog will learn to eat from the bowl... almost immediately. Put plenty of crickets in the bowl...that will get his attention!!!
I have adult tree frogs....mine eat small crickets........only.
It is best, in my opinion , NOT to ration their food. Feed him well.

If you were to do a Frog Forum 'search' for every question you have ; you will be reading all night !!!!!! Lots of information here.

    Hope this helps, Lynn
