Rock Island

Looking through some of my old aquarium supplies I realized I still have a sizable collection of safe, clean rocks available at my disposable. They aren't perfectly smooth, but all corners are rounded off and worn down enough so that they wouldn't catch on long-finned fish species. Several of these rocks would be big enough to use as an island type landscape in my FBT tank. I also like the idea of the rock because it would slope down into the water, rather than being something they'd have to try to jump or climb onto, and they could just walk right up out.

I was just wondering what people's opinions would be on using the rock as the main land area.
Would it be too rough on their skin? I'd assume I should find some mosses or similar flora to use to cover a good portion of it.

Rocks work perfect for FBT "land". I had mine in a set up that had rocks on half the tank, water in the other. I had a little corner filter under the rocks, and a piece of drift wood in the water area. And fake plants from the dollar store. They were happy toads.

She's just been moved into a set-up with one large rock as an island, with her fake-log cave half stuffed with moss as a hideout. (Though she prefers to sit on top of it, rather than inside, hehe.) Next time I'm in town I hope to pick up some form of floating plant or man-made piece to go in the large water area, but she seems content right now. Though that contentedness may have had something to do with the three crickets she just ate. lol
