well, on the upside, the cat never eats what he kills. for some unknown reason, if he catches a mouse, he takes it and drops it in his litter box. sorry, i should have mentioned it was not digested. i was really upset about it at work today because i have seen this cat catch mice before, and it is impressive to say the least. he's half maine coon (both my cats are, same mommy), so he's a very large (21 lbs) animal. what upset me is i have an idea what he did to that poor little guy. my daughter has been a mess all day because she knows as well. but i made sure to let her know it's ok and i'm not mad at her, just please do not ever open any of my enclosures. as a sign of forgiveness, i gave her Casanova, my fire walker frog, but he stays where he is. and we are going shopping together for a new wtf or two this weekend.

So sorry, Bill! We got lucky -- when ours got out, he was sitting on our living room windowsill in the morning. Now that's a weird experience, to be drinking your morning tea and look over and see a WTF walking along your windowsill...
He's fine, although he's pissed as hell that he cannot go walkabout anymore.
The boys are back in town!!! Came home from work today, and went to turn on my pc and lo and behold, there was Technoboy sitting on top of my tower!! I set up a quarantine tub for him very quickly and gave him a little soak in some pedialyte. I'll be keeping a very close eye on him in the next few weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed. Amazingly, he didn't look or feel dried out at all. I figured i would wait to feed him until tomorrow. I want to give him some recovery time. Is that the right thing to do, or should i feed him sooner?

wait, what? you found him? i thought u said your son already found the frog dead?
i never actually SAW the remains. my wife told my son to toss it in the trash before it was picked up. she didn't want it to smell. i really have NO idea what it is he found in the litter box then. for all i know, the cat dug something out of the trash. but, in my son's defense, he is an idiot....lol i asked him about it today and he told me "well, i thought it looked like it could have been a frog". i broke my first rule of management, never trust an employee, always verify for yourself.....LOL

Lol yea that is pretty sweet, i was keeping my fbts at my ex's house + one of my original fbts escaped about a week ago (had him for a year), it sucks man so im glad you found urs. Sounds like he was waiting for you to notice him. Needless to say i have moved my tank to my house
That's great news! I can't see any reason why you'd wait to feed it. A healthy treefrog is pretty well suited to going without food for long stretches and diving in when it becomes available. Of course it may not have been without food unless your house is miraculously devoid of free range insects.
I can't help but wonder what it was your son found. Is there any way an outside frog made its way inside or does your cat have outside privileges? I suppose a mistaken ID is a likely culprit. I don't tend to inspect the things I find in the litter box very closely. It's never anything good.
Yeah, i believe it was a case of a mistaken id as well. And now i don't care what he found......lol time to build them a new home now. Guess that will be another build journal![]()

I did feed him. He at 4 crickets last night. Of course he probably was feeding on stragglers for two weeks. And here i thought it was the crickets getting eaten by spiders. Guess not.....lol

I'm glad you found your frog. I have a baby kingsnake that has been AWOL for 3 weeks now. She was a very tiny hatchling when she escaped. She is a very important snake for my future breeding project! I've been looking everywhere and I think she may have gotten outside. If so there is very little chance I will ever see her again.
I once found a lost corn snake in my house by putting a couple of fuzzy's in a 5 gal tank in a dark corner. Not the smartest way, bjt it did work in this instance. You gotta find that hatchling, i may be in the market for a king snake one of these days.....lol

I've been leaving day old pinkie mice out every Monday night (f/t mice of course) and have water and hides out all over the place. Two in every room. It's getting cold lately so I am checking all the warm places in the house. But being so teeny tiny she could be anywhere, even in the walls!
My kingsnake morph isn't exactly new but no one has worked with it or discovered if it's dominate, co-dom, recessive or just a freak pattern that pops up in mosaic clutches. I've done a breeding loan recently and discovered it is co-dom. However I don't know if it is mosaic or another line of mosaic or a separate morph lol. My female hatchling was going to knock some of those hurtles out of the way. She happened to be the only female out of a clutch of 6 eggs. But if I don't find her (I still hope I do) I will have another shot next spring as my male is in Ohio on a different breeding loan.
After all this I've been keeping my new frogs under lock and key literally! I also check on them several times a day. I'm a little paranoid.
That's great! It must have been quite a surprise since you assumed he was dead! That reminds me when my uncle found his cat dead in the road and went and buried it and then the next day my aunt was coming home from work and there was the cat, sitting on their porch. Not sure who's cat they buried, but boy were they glad it wasn't theirs! Anyways, I'm glad you found your frog!
