So my wonderful girlfriend purchased me a large terrarium and a red eyed tree frog. After about 2 weeks of having the little amphibian, the glass has become dirty. I read somewhere online that I cannot clean the glass with Windex due to the risk of poisoning my new roommate. So what can I clean the glass with? I struggle with wipping down the sides of the class with just water because it makes it streaky and is ineffective. Suggestions? I also don't want to spend much for a new cleaner. Please help!
The streaks being left behind are probably from minerals in your water.
Clean the glass with distilled water. Because distilled water contains no minerals it will not leave spots or streaks on the glass.
Also, you do know not to be using chlorinated water with your frogs, right? If you use tap water you have to treat it with something to remove the chlorine & chloramines which are dangerous to amphibians (and most other small animals).
We do not have chlorine in our water. The streaks are more of a dirty streaking rather than a white residue that hard water would leave.
Then it's dirt. Use more water to wash the dirt away before trying to dry it. If you have rust in your water it could also be that.
Don't just wipe it down, use a spray bottle to actually rinse the glass off. If you use distilled water you don't even have to dry it, it won't leave spots.

A razor blade takes care of stubborn stains, just be sure not to cut the silicone on the corners.
Razor blade + water and a paper towel will take care of just about anything on glass. If you wipe it dry after washing, you shouldn't get streaks.
you may want to check that again. http://www.scbwa.org/pdf/state_colle...eport_2011.pdf it may be a small amount in comparison to some major metropolitan areas, but you guys do have chlorine in the water. i thought you guys did, my cousin is a cop in the borough and we had that discussion before (he's also a fish keeper)

Where can I purchase that and what is it sold as?
Water dechlorinator is sold in the reptile and aquarium sections of any pet store. Walmart carries it too. There are several good brands. I use Stress Coat.

Should I use it in the mist I use to humidify the terrarium, the water bowl, and the water I use to clean with?
