Very good point, thanks. I've seen and read some amazing things. Parenties after rabbits have been seen to abandon the chase and double back to lie in ambush at the rabbit's burrow, "predicting" that it will return there. Another species (detaisl escape me, in Copeia, I believe) trying to unerath a smaller monitor from its burrow seemed to locate the monitor via scent, a few feet back. The hunter dug down at that point, but stopped every few seconds to watch entrance, and grabbed vicim immediately as it flushed. Please see this article for more on learning in monitors & rhino iguanas.
"Lizard King" - good one! Have you read the book (reptile trade) by the same title? Best, Frank
