Default Need Advice on Breeding My Fire bellies.

Hey guys, I've had Fire Belly Toads for about 6-8 months, and i've decided to breed them. If you have any advice/tips on successful breeding or sexing that would be much appreciated. My local reptile store has told me they would take the toadlets once old enough.

    -Thanks
    (P.S.)
I believe I have 2-3 males and 3 females. Also if you want picks i might be able to do that.

Before you breed them, you will need to overwinter them (make sure they are healthy). Gradually reduce feeding and temperature down to 50 (F) for 6 weeks. Then gradually raise the temperature to normal and feed heavily. This should get them to breed. The overwintering process should coincide with the actual breeding period, ending in mid-April, by that time your frogs will be sexually mature. These are social frogs so placing them in colonies of 6-8 would be ideal.During the overwintering process, the frogs are vulnerable to red-leg disease, so watch them carefully. Breeding males will have dark warts and nuptial pads. Good luck

Ok, thx. I've put them through the overwinter process by feeding them everyday medium crickets for about a week, then I put them into winter last Wednesday. I thought it was 60-65 degrees.

what you want to do is put a timer on their light and go from 16 hours of daylight and every other week decrease by half hour until you are at 12.5 hours
then give them moss to burrow into and move to a cool (58 degrees) dark area for about 11 weeks, not feeding too much
then set the tank up aquaticly with little water and gradually add plants and water and that's how mine did it!
