    Default i just realized.......

that i never posted an introduction of myself to the forum. out of pure habit, i think i just started posting away, silly me. My name's bill, and i am a born and raised philly guy. Go Sixers!! and take the eagles with you!! LOL i am new to frogs, but i have been keeping aquariums in one form or another since i can remember. i think my first tank was when i was 13 (a few decades ago), freshwater, graduated to salt water in high school (chicks really did dig my pretty fish..lol) and back and forth ever since. i have been doing planted tanks for about the past 5 years. now, bored with that, i found frogs! and boy am i glad. such cute little creatures, what's not to love?? anyway, long story short, the 7 fish tanks i had up and running have since dwindled to a solo planted tank and a grow out tank. all the rest are either converted to, or in the process of being converted into vivariums/paludariums. my first, my 60g white's tree frog viv houses my 2 white's, the prophet and technoboy. this is their home and a pic of them:

technoboy front and center and the prophet bringing up the rear

thanks for letting me bore you...lol

Welcome to FF. after 71 post !!!!!!
Your enclosure looks great , Bill!

I'm a New Yorker ................but we love Philly!
My son attends University of Pennsylvania and lives by the art museum!
Plus he attended Haverford College /undergad ; so we have been in Philly more that Manhattan -believe it or not.
    Small world.

I have always had a fresh water tank. I raised Discus for a while. All my girls are old now and my 2 new babies look like males.

Are you all ready for your new Pixie
    All those tanks !!!!!
You need a nice healthy red eye tree frog ( or 2) from Michael Novy ! Or black eyes or amazons
As far as I know, John is bringing frogs to sell as well...that's why I wish I was more ready.

So YOU are the guy we can go to with our questions about marginals.
What marginal do you think would do well with my tree frogs. ( planted/foliage exposed to the air/mist with distilled water / constant wet feet / and a sturdy leaf)
There are those few spots that are constantly under the mist heads.
Plus ...where do you buy them.........and how do you get rid of the snail eggs that are always hiding?

    See you soon!

There are a few semi-aquatics you can use. But part of your problem will be with the distilled water, which is void of any nutrients for the plant roots. Do you have any objections to going to spring or dechlorinated tap? I can give you quite a few plant species that will work, but it depends if you are going the biotope route or not. A pic of the space would be helpful.
And yes, retf's are in my future. My ultimate goal, so to speak. I've got plans drawn up for a 36x36x48 enclosure for them, but that is not until after my 125, 40b fbt tank and my 20l paludariums are complete. I'm actually torn right now between black eyed and albinos, but i have plenty of time to decide.
