This isn't a monitor its a tegu and they don't need whole prey but a couple times a week they tend to do better on a diet of ground turkey and whole prey every couple of days if you feed whole exclusively to them they tend to get obese

Well according to breeders and studies in the wild they don't need or even eat whole prey much as for eggs if they are store eggs you have to cook them because of some chemical that infertile eggs have now I agree he need bones and organs (most my food comes from hare-today) and I can get whole animals ground up or I can get bone and organs ground up but in nature they are scavengers and I'm going off what the breeder and the people on tegu talk say lol not saying its 100% correct though

And thank you he's a BWxRED hybrid he's stunning in color

i guess we have learned different things i talk to a few breeders on other forums and they have all told me tegus do hunt but then again there is a big difference between breeders and biologist who actually go out and study these animals in there natural habitat.

and i knew there was something off about his color

Haha either way they can survive and the food I order is just ground up whole animal for easier feeding haha! The main reason for the egg in the 1st place is to get him to eat since he's still stressed from his trip I'm trying to prevent hibernation lol and this hybrid is what I've wanted since I started keeping tegus!
