Default How to make sure a frog is not obese/overfed

Gertrude is a voracious eater. She's been known to consume almost 2 dozen crickets a week. The small-mediums. I figured if she was still eating, it meant she was still hungry.(I seem to have forgotten how piggy Grays are) I was feeding her every night, but I backed off. That's a butt load of crickets and I didn't want to adversely affect her health.

So, now she's fast asleep in the top of the tank, looking very much like this:

    :P
She actually just looks fat. She's active, I heard her jumping around all night last night, still eats, poops, pees, is still hungry, still sheds her skin regularly. Cage temp sits around 74, humid cage, fresh water, clean substrate every day (every two days if I get swamped in homework)

Is there anyway I can make sure she's NOT as obese as she looks?
I have a frog. She's fat and green. Her name is Gertrude, because she is fat and green.

Post pics of her in different positions? I would still feed her every night but less crickets. I give my greys 2 a night... if one starts to look too thin I add a 3rd every other night... if they look like they are getting too fat... I go 2 one night 1 the next and so on... Its still better for there health to eat daily like they would in the wild.

Ok I stalked your album ... your Gertrude looks like my fat Merry .. She's big and fat but has lost a bit since owning her and watching how much she eats. She's still the fattest one I have though.

Without a photo of the frog no one can really comment on the state of your frog's weight.

Weight loss is a pretty basic principal. Eat less, lose weight. If you believe you frog is getting too fat just stop feeding as much.

Ha! My Whites tree frog Shrek, just took offense to that photo/comment LOL!

He/she is also a very voracious eater. I feed 4 small-medium crickets a night and she eats them in 2 seconds then stares at the bottom of the bowl waiting for more to magically appear! Today she actually looks well...dumpy! I like Rae's idea of feeding every night but alternating the number of crickets depending on the frogs size.

There's my pudgy. She looked bigger this morning. Maybe she just needed to pee. *shrug* but the alternating crickets every night is a grand idea. Thanks, Rae.
