Default Hi from the new owner of 3 fire bellies!

Well! So here I am trying to learn something new every day for the sake of my 3 adopted fire bellies. My grandchildren had these three little guys and when I would go visit it made me ill. They were in the dark, way up high on a tall bookshelf in their tank, fed occasionally when the money and mood fit in and in a filthy, never kept up state.

I went there a few weeks ago and flew off the handle....finally. I let them all know (parents included) that they didn't deserve to own those three little critters and I insisted the tank with the three in it be delivered to my home the following morning. I have since completely thrown out the old aquarium and just purchased a cheap new one just a 10 gallon. The day I took them they were sitting in a puddle of dried up water that was an inch of mud, the light blown, hadn't eaten for well over a week, a real horror!

So they now have a clean swimming hole, clean home with no more plastic but live plants, not just crickets but worms too and they seem so up and about and happy now. Anyway, hi. I will be skulking around here trying to learn a few things from everyone else and thanks! Dot from MA

welcome Dot and kudos to you!!! i'm sure the little one's will be very happy with their new guardian not many people would do what you did and you should be commended for saving the little fellers/gals. maybe you can use the new home you have for them for educational purposes whenever the grandkiddies visit???

Thanks Bill, I am an old grammy and am allowed one pet where I live. I have a big mean cat, a nice old dog, a russian tortoise and now the 3 toads. Love them all and no animal or reptile should have to be at the mercy of a lazy owner! Again, thanks and I do enjoy them.

Oh well I wouldn't have the room for that sort of thing. I just never thought I would see me buying and playing with worms!! OMG but here I am cause the toadies are so darned cute and love the sounds they make! Can I put some butter worms in a covered container at room temp, add oatmeal and a few hunks of cut up potato and they will multiply? Don't laugh at me now! lol.......It is too expensive for me to be buying them so if there is a way to grow my own butter worms I will.....
