I have a 40 Gallon Long tank that I'm about to free up. I'm just curious as to suggestions on what would you stick in it? It's dimensions are 48" L x 12" W x 16" H.
I'm not sure if I want to put some kind of non-aquatic critter in it or if I want to attempt a fish tank again. I'm undecided. What would you do?
No one has any suggestions...?
That's the problem, there are so many choices.. haha. I haven't even bought a new pet yet because I can't decide and I have three empty tanks waiting to be housed.. What do you have in mind that you are considering most? I saw a pretty cool tank with Axolotl's and Aquatic clawed frogs in it, I'm not exactly sure how safe that is.. but that person had both looking healthy. You could try something other than frogs, a bearded dragon or some smaller turtles would be happy in a 40 gal, although you might have to upgrade for the turtles later. You could turn it into a Dart Frog Viv and load it up with some of those.. So many options. That's what makes it so hard. I'm not sure if a 40 Gallon would be suitable for a Arboreal species otherwise I might suggest one of those, you ever hear of a 40 gallon vertical? That might be a cool project.
I'm not sure what you have already,I see the tree frogs in your sig and avatar so I'm guessing that's what you have.![]()
>_<
I forgot I had posted this a long time ago until I was rooting through my started threads. My 40 gallon now still sits in my room full of water with nothing in it, lol. I was thinking perhaps of dividing it up to house my multiple Bettas in it and give them more room instead of the 5 gallons I each have them in. I haven't gotten around to it yet because I was looking at DIY tank dividers. I've found two different ones online, but haven't gotten around to getting the materials to do it yet. I'm very good at researching projects, but very bad at actually going through with them. Plus with my new-ish job (I've been there for a month now), I find it hard for side projects anymore. I also have an empty 29 gallon tall that I'm not sure what to do with either.
And as far as my current frogs they are all in my signature.
I'm turning my 49gal into a land/water Viv for Rex I'm pretty good at making live planted half and half tanks if not pixie tank since Rex isn't typical he's a really active frog and is fun to have in a large tank I would do axolotls

The difficult part is the 12" depth. Not much room to work with. That's why i avoid 55g tanks, even for my fish. They do make nice paludariums though. How about a larger home for your fbt and give it some friends?
