Went to the beach today and while there picked up some driftwood that would make great climbing branches for my soon to arrive retfs. I plan on sanding them a bit, driftwood pretty smooth, but i know they need to be sterilized. I have terrarium cleaner(zoo med brand) and i've heard of using vinegar and water from the forum, but don't think that has to do with wood. What is best way to make safe, if they should be used at all? Also for everything just bought at store new (artificial plants, eco carpet, etc including terrarium itself) how should I clean that before first use if necessary? Thanks so much for any help![]()
I use a half vinegar half water soluion for all my accessories and glass then rince them good after and have them dry. Im not sure about bringing stuff in from outside. Stay away from anything that was near pine or spruce trees as they can be toxic to many frogs. I have heard of people boiling wood for a long time then letting it air dry after.
Wow thanks, lots of scrub pine in Florida becomes the drift wood on the beach, no way to ever know what it really is....it could be from halfway around the world or up the beach drifting in and out of the gulfstream. Nice pieces but I guess i will be ordering some from Josh's Frogs, they had nice assortment and you can choose exact one. So I'll say the spray and just give everything a wipe or rinse with vinegar and water. Brw, alcohol 25%, vinegar 25%, & H2O makes a completely streak free glass cleaner and antiviral/bacterial
