A toad that showed up in my kitchen 10 days ago. He must have been hibernating in a large houseplant I had brought in from the outside in October, only to appear now.
I bought an aquarium and all that goes into making healthy environment (water, crickets, etc.) for him until Spring release back into my garden.
Yesterday, I noticed a skin eruption that concerns me. Could you give me some advice or suggest treatment? It looks like it has worsened since last night. I will be releasing him in late Spring in my garden here in Maryland. I would very much appreciate your thoughts.
I've included a photo taken last night. The only bad area is right lower back but it looks like it is enlarging quickly.

Thanks very much,

OK first thing first, he's not a toad. He's a gray treefrog and there is a care sheet for this species here at the Frog Forum. Gray's make good pets and are quite popular.
Second this frog needs to see an amphibian savy veterinarian, the sooner the better.
Ah i hope the little dude is ok. I have heard it is common for them to show up in potted plants. That wound looks bad, if he has been in the house since october he could have gotten hurt on just about anything! I am currently keeping a gray tree frog. They look warty like a toad and are mistaken for them often. It would be worth it to take it to the vet. They make sweet pets.
