Hi, everyone. As some of you know, Nugget is quite a fatty. About a week or so ago, Nugget went to sleep and has been sleeping since, waking up very briefly from time to time. He did not eat a ton before going down or anything, so I am unsure his body was ready for it. I thought he might wake up shortly, so I have tried not to disturb him. Now that it has been a week, he has had noticeable weight loss and I am of course worried by this. Is it bad if I wake him up? I want to try to feed him sufficiently if he plans on continuing to sleep, but have never fed him anything as large as a pinky before (I know it takes them a few weeks to digest so I was guessing this would be a good option). I guess what I need to know is, can I wake him to soak or feed him? What is the best method of action here? Should I wait a little longer to see if he wakes up on his own? Thanks in advance for any advice.
If he is noticeably losing weight then you need to wake him. Prepare a warm de-chlorinated bath and place him in it and soak him for 15 to 20 minutes. As the water cools have a second bath ready the same way and place him in there for another 15 minutes. After he is awake and active offer food. Pinky mice usually only take about a week or a little less to digest depending on the frogs metabolism.
He definitely needs to be awakened or he could waste away and die. Try this method and be sure to keep his substrate moist, air humid and warm. He should snap out of it.
Hi Grif,
Thanks for the advice, as always.
I apologize, I should have removed this post last night- Nugget passed away last night.
Thanks again for trying to help.

Just a question, why is your frog aestivating? Is it cold or is this just something that they'll do naturally on their own? I didn't think pacmans would go into aestivation without having colder temperatures. What temperatures are you keeping it at?
Edit: Ugh.. sorry for your loss Nlopez.![]()
I am so sorry for your loss, Neysa.![]()
