two weeks ago i inherited a firebelly from a family member and then i went to petsmart and got her a BFF. Created this super cool tank that they love and since is half water i have taken them out of the tank and placed them in a plastic box to feed them so they can catch their meals easily. I do this separately so i can monitor who eats how much. One of them is a chow hound but the other eats one cricket or one meal worm then nothing. Someone suggested that it may be because i am moving her into this strange environment and is stressed or not comfortable. Would it be safe to place a glass bowl over her in the tank with her food (so it doesnt get away) so that it appears that she is at home?
It would be a better idea to burry a bowl level with the susbtrate and put the crickets in it. That way they can't get away and your frog won't feel stessed out from being trapped under a bowl.
That or try to feed with rubber tipped feeding tongs.
It's not really a great idea to handle the frogs every time they need to be fed anyway. The feeding bowl method is a popular one around here, I would give it a try if I were you. Do a search for "bowl feeding" and you'll find everything you need.
