Why did my frog die?

One of my brown ones, the brown one I've had the longest, died sometime after last night. Yesterday evening, he ate well, nightcrawler pieces, and just a few minutes ago in checking all my frogs, found him in a corner looking suspiciously dead. He was about 2" long.

But why, when he was fine last night, did he die suddenly? I did find a kind of white rubbery type stringy material, maybe skin shed? nearby. Or could some of his intestines came out (forget the word for this right now)? All the others are fine.

Describe the wite rubbery thing more detailed? Were their several of the stringy materials?
How long have you had the frog?

If the rubbery stuff wasn't still attached to the frog, it probably wasn't intestines. They are pretty tough, and probably wouldn't detach like that.... Just my guess.

Sometimes they die for reasons unknown. Even the healthiest of frogs can sometime perish for no apparent reason.

Was their any odd behavior?
Was there anything that could have caused him stress?
What was the last thing he ate?
What makes you believe he had a prolapsed intestine?

More information is needed, but we may not be able to identify cause of death. You may have to seek out a Herp Vet and have a Nechropsy performed to identify exact cause of death. I'm sorry for your loss

To answer some of the questions: My best guess was skin shed I saw. There was no odd behavior. The last thing he ate were nightcrawler pieces the evening before he died.

Stress? I do have dogs that bark frequently that they can hear and may sometimes see. Each enclosure is generally covered on three sides completely, with the "front" side covered about 3" up due to some are at a lower height such that one of my dogs (around 20 pounds each) could see them. He was in a position where he looked like he may have been trying to get out (propped up against the side), so I guess it is possible one of my dogs saw him moving around and gave him a heart attack. Generally my dogs do not bother the frogs.

I wish a dedicated frog room would work for me as that would solve the possible dog issue, but it doesn't work for me. All my frogs are in my main living area, but I am basically the only traffic, except for my dogs, with occasional visitors. The frogs seem to be ok so far.

Edits: I got him around the first week of July, at around 1 1/4 inches. He and my fantasy frog came from Big Apple Herps. He was my first brown colored pacman frog.

If you got the frog the first week of July at 1 1/4 an inch, why was it only 2 inches long when it died just a few days ago?

Is it possible the white stringly stuff was intestinal parasites?
