Question Questions About My Two Toads

Now I've only had them for a few days, so I understand I may not have all the answers for them yet. But I keep reading that these frogs are very active and 'noisy'. So far I haven't heard anything from my little guys. Not one peep.

    1. One of them doesn't jump or move around much, he mostly hides and I caught him a few times in the water with just his eyes peeping out. I understand he may have a bit of a shy personalty but I'm worried something may be wrong or he's unhappy.

    2. The other moves and hops around, trying to crawl on the tank, and sits on the filter, but still I've heard nothing from him.

    3. I feed them two crickets at 5:00pm, and then go to bed (I work at night) -maybe that's why I haven't heard them?- Is that acceptable?

Since you've only had them for a few days they are probably still adjusting to their new home. Sometimes it just takes awhile for them to adjust to a new environment. Give it some time. Another possibility is that you have two females. They don't croak at all like the males do.

i've got 4 frogs and i've only heard 2 croak, though I'm pretty sure at least one of the other 2 is a male that's just quiet. I've also got one that's really docile and likes to just hide and not do much.

Well, they're probably still adjusting to their environment. I would give them a week or so before becoming concerned. Also, only the males will vocalize so if, in the course of several weeks, you don't hear anything, they could both be female. Personally, I have several males and females and they only vocalize now and again (and especially at feeding time) and yeah, they are loud when they want to be. Just give them some time.

Yah I heard them croak, (one at least) but sadly one of them escaped, so I don't know which one it was. I went out a got two more, since the one looked only and got a better topper for the cage. I'm letting them relax a bit around each other and I'm going to get them together when I clean the cage tonight.
