I am pretty stoked. There is a hobbyist who is moving and getting out of the aquarium hobby on a local forum I frequent. They have 3 ACF's free to proper home. I have been looking for a female reticulated and considering getting a natural colored male. They happen to have a female reticulated, a normal male, and a female they are not sure what she is. Apparently they have tried to identify her on various sites to no avail and believe she is some kind of sub species or a hybrid. I am so stoked. I should be getting them this Saturday. (Sept 1) Of course I will post pics as I will be seeking help with that ID also.
Picked up the new frogs a few hours ago. My tank is a bit clowdy as I decided to go from bare bottom to sand 2 days ago. I will still be taking pics later today. All three are great frogs. Kind-of thin though. The 3rd frog is definately different. Appears to have an orange hue on the stomach.
Alright here they are:
Rocky the wild type male

Rocky the ham
Here is is looking skinny like I mentioned earlier. I could actually see the food in them when I feed them.
This is Moon, the reticulated albino female

Here is Rue, the frog that is believed to be something other than laevis by the previous owners.
Lastly here is Calapyso and Kitty(2 girls I already had)
Rocky getting in on that shot

awesome colors on those guys, that one does look a bit skinny though, is his spine OK? it seems a bit crooked.
His spine is fine. I think he was just doing his yoga thing. Fed everybody well yesterday. Tank has cleared up finally. I may post some better pics soon. I am now on the hunt for a cheap 55 gallon.
Just wondering, why is Rue believed to be something other than an ACF?
I believed it is based on her pattern and the fact that none of their males ever tried to amplex her during the 5 years they had her. I think the pattern is "different"( more spotted than blotched), but other than that and the pattern around her eyes she seems like a laevis to me. What I thought was an orange tint on her belly seems to be common among the 3 newbies and is faint enough to dismiss it.
