So I took a month, sketched it out on graph paper, built it in a smaller 5 gallon tank, and over a months time finally brought my idea to reality...I would welcome and feedback good or bad
29 gallon long, two pane DS GLASS, for clarity and scratch issues with plexiglas
Custom taped calk lines
Potted tropic plants to make cleaning time easy
Sectioned off water feature
Filtered pond/ water feature with, live plants, driftwood, rocks, 6 small gold barbs fish, 1 snail. Turtle dock, custom entrance and Exit steps
Terra vine, stuck on with custom shower rated suction cups, these will never com off :0
Terra vine piece cut, steel core removed and one fits ver the glass
I was tired of going through 3 bricks of Eco fiber, so this is hat I did. Fb are not tree dwelling, so he don't need heights, etc. so I raised the entire bottom with custom cut PVC , then egg crate and finally plastic mesh. Works PERFECTLY,!!!?..can't say I enough I went don to now only 1 brick or I'm going to start using th premixed bags
Heater in the water for the frogs, heated to low 80's 82degreex... Us this ok, can someone weigh in on this temp.
bulbs with uv or the live plants, and a ceramic heat bulb 150 water in a digital thermostat. Set to 75 degrees static is this ok? Pond is 82 inside is 75 78 in some spots closer to heat source.
4 toads in there nw, can I get more?
Took a lot of time reading, drafting, and reading some more, then thinking about ease to clean....
Thanks, glad to be here!
Sounds awesome! Would love to see pics! (The one at the bottom is a broken link or something)
I don't keep them so I can't answer your temp questions, sorry.
Ok, got it fixed
here we go.. Pictures now
looks good! can't wait to see them in there!
Looks like everything they'd ever need! Enough floaty stuff to hang out on/get out of the water, plenty of hiding space up top on the land portion... The only thing I would suggest aesthetically is I would probably paint the inside of the glass black or something in the pvc/egg crate area, but I bet they're happy! Good job!
Few more pics..
@kate- yes, I agree, I wanted to paint it and throw some low voltage led lights in the bottom...frogs couldn't see it but would look neat at night....anyone know the answer to my water temp questions?
Awesome tank! I LOVE what you did with raising the bottom of the land side. So stealing that idea
I don't have a heater in the water and my tank stays normally 68-75 (thermometer is right above the 50% water side but I rarely temp the water itself.) Not sure what it def. should be but they seem happy. My heat bulb on the other side is 50 watts and that almost seems too hot for them the majority of the time (so I always dim it.) They rarely go around it anymore, they're in the water 95% of the time if not more. I have a 20 gallon with 3 FBT. You could probably fit another in a 30 but they def. love their room.
