Default Considering A White's Tree Frog

A couple weeks ago my pacman frog died after a couple months of trying to get him to eat properly. He was fine for the first month I had him and then he just stopped wanting to eat at all. I posted on here and tried everything to no avail. He started to look better at one point and then just plummeted downhill and eventually died. This was a very upsetting ordeal and I considered not getting another frog at all. But I decided maybe a different kind of frog would be best. From what I've read on these forum and elsewhere pacman frogs seem to be very easily stressed, which may be what happened to my frog.

After some research I think I would like to get a white's tree frog. Are they hardier than pacs? Right now I only have a 10 gallon tank but I intend to get a larger one as my new frog grows. After my pac died I converted it to a planted terrarium with the plants I had in with my pacman frog. I'm wondering what sort of cleaning procedure I should go through with the tank before I get another frog and if I should keep the same plants in there? Any other tips would be great as well

Well I own 4 whites, 3 baby's and one minor adult, these frogs are a very hardy type of frog there waxy skin helps keep the horrible stuff out and not only this they are not as easy stressed as a pacman, there the best frogs I've ever watched, so chilled out of a day then turn into a right jumpy bunch at night, they have awesome visuals and fun to watch hunt if you want another frog I think the whites are for you. Just allow the decorations to soak in a bath of hot water and give them a good wipe and give the tank the once over as well and you should be set on being a happy whites owner
:-) happy frogging, and good luck hope my advise helped.

Sorry about your pacman. Whites are a fun frog, I have 3 now. They are very fun to watch at night, very rambunctious! You are going to want to get a tall tank for them though, they LOVE to climb. I had a 12x12x18 exo-terra and had to get a bigger one because one of my frogs kept trying to escape!

Thanks for the replies! I have decided that I do want a WTF. I would like to avoid cricket keeping at all costs. What are some good alternatives for these guys? I do have some dubia that I'm attempting to breed but right now I only have one adult male and one adult female. The others are at different juvenile stages. All too big to feed to a young frog. I have some night crawlers that I had been cutting up and force feeding to my pac right before he died. Will a WTF eat night crawlers? Or am I stuck with crickets until my roaches breed?

I'm considering getting a digital thermometer/humidity gauge for outdoor use. You know, the ones with the little reader attached to a wire to hang out a window. Would that be accurate enough for my terrarium? I was also wondering what some good alternatives to coconut fiber as a substrate would be. I always find little fruitfly looking things crawling in the coconut fiber and I'm not sure if it's bad for the frogs or not? So maybe something else would be better?
