I'm going to be getting my pacman soon, and I've watched dusting 103 video. Still have questions. I've ordered the pacman food, I'm going to try using that as the staple. And canned crickets and nightcrawlers for variety, how shoud I dust them? With calcium everyday and multivitamins once a week? This is how I supplement my reptiles.
Dust with calcium three times a week and multivitamins once a week. Don't dust with the calcium and mulitvitamins on the same night; they won't absorb as well. Babies should be offered food every night. Pacman food is a great staple; the main reason people don't use it more is that it gets pricey particularly when you have multiple frogs. Nightcrawlers are a great staple food. Crickets are not as nutritious. Just so you know, a lot of frogs don't respond to the dead canned crickets. They like wiggle, squirmy food!![]()
Vitamin once a week is a lot...
Especially D3...
I refer to my vet...
Don't forget D3 can damage kidneys of frogs if too much is provided...
D3 Each Two weeks is enough, on 2 insects for example.
It is not too much. This is the commonly accepted dosage. Horned Frogs require A LOT of calcium. As a matter of fact its almost an insane amount. They will need the D3 to metabolize all that calcium so it doesn't just pass through their systems. Calcium with D3. given 3 times a week is fine and a Multivitamin that does not contain D3 like Herptivite once a week is just fine. If it was unacceptable then you couldn't offer Pacman Food daily it every other day because it is PACKED with vitamins and calcium as a complete food source.
Yes you can overdose you frog on vitamins if given too often, but once a week for a multivitamin and calcium with D3 three days a week is acceptable without over dosing the frog.
Do you need to supplement calcium if only feeding pacman food?
