Hey, I'm about to purchase a tall terrarium 12x12x18 (30x30x45cm) and I was wondering what I could put in either. I wanted a whites tree frog but I'm getting conflicting results whether this is big enough for one. If not what would you suggest I put in there.
and as a side note is the 12x12x12 big enough for anything?
I started with the 12x12x18 for my White's. When I just had one, I thought that it was fine. When I got two, it still didn't seem bad. But I eventually just wanted the two to have more room so I upgraded to the 18x18x24. They were a lot happier in the bigger size.
Bigger is always better. The 12x12x18 seems to be on the border, imo...I think it's alright for one. If you get two, then it's iffy.
thanks for the reply, just trying to make sure they are going to be happy. are wtf's territorial at all?
White's will eat much smaller frogs, so you'll need them about the same size. Otherwise, they don't seem territorial to me. Every once in awhile one of my frogs will walk over the other, and there will be something like a squeak, but that's all. :P
You could try smaller treefrog species in there, like tiger-legged monkey frogs or clown treefrogs. See the appropriate Meet the Frog articles for more details.
do you mean the 12x12x12 one? or is that a vote for too small for whites tree frog?
The frogs I suggested will be fine in any of those sizes. White's, in the long run, would reqire a bigger terrarium than you are thinking about.
thanks, appreciate the response
You're welcome.
