Mine is currently on antibiotics for a UTI, but he is doing well. His appetitite hasn't decreased at all and there are no other signs of problems. So here is to hoping that both our Apples live long healthy lives! (And all the other frogs as well!)

I have definitely noticed that mine grow better when nightcrawlers are their staple diet. They are all around a better food source!
I had to look it up to see when I got my Apple -- it was June 10th -- so I think 10 days after you got yours? Mine was 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 inches when I got it -- but came from Pet Supplies Plus, not Petsmart. But you never know, they could have come from the same supplier. At any rate, hope yours gets over his UTI if he hasn't already.

Nice frogs dude. They're all great looking and I find the more I look at the brown cranwelli, the more I like them. Even if they're the "plainest" of the bunch. Maybe I'll actually see one at the next expo and grab one.

I'm doing my best to heal him. Its not easy and is not only stressful for him, but on us as well.

Any guesses on gender on any of these? I am still confused about nuptial pads, the pad is separate than the thumb pad, correct? I have heard no definite croaking from my pacman frogs.

At what size can one guess at the gender of an ornate? He/she is right around 3.5" now. I had thought it is a male as I thought I had heard croaking, but could never tell, and I think it came from my White's enclosure -- I know I have 2 White's males, maybe all 3 of them are. But I'm now wondering if my big ornate is a female.

The next "oldest"/biggest is my green apple at just over 3" the best I can tell. The next biggest is my green cranwelli who is right around 2.5" inches.

I know time will tell but it would be useful to get guesses beforehand to attempt to get appropriately sized permanent housing for them. Just as I was typing this I heard croaking that didn't sound like my White's or my green tree frogs. But I didn't see any vocal sacs. A wild guess would be my green apple as "he" has loose skin under his throat.

Well, just some ramblings for tonight. Wednesday, I pick up a late birthday present I bought for myself (Tuesday is my birthday, won't say my age) -- can anyone guess what that might be? LOL. Pics to come sooner or later

EDIT -- I've listened to pacman frog calls as well as tomato frog calls and I'm almost sure it was my tomato frog calling. He's called before, just not this loud that I remember.

Nuptial pads are not toe pads. Toe pads are for climbing in tree frogs. Nuptial pads are usually in the middle of the thumb facing inward towards the frog's chest and look like a dark mole. Some are small and circular and others are long and oval shaped.
