I have a 40 gallon breeder that sits on my coffee table. I would like create something that is visual pleasing to view from the top. All I have been able to find so far are setups meant to be viewed from the front. Any suggestions or websites/threads that I can find ideas?
nobody?
Well the only thing I can think of would be to put a background all the way around the tank, only like a 3rd of the way up, so you have to look from the top. I think a nice active group of PDF would work well. It's an interesting idea, I know I'm working on a coffee table tank but it will be able to be viewed from the front as well as the top. Hope I helped a little
I'd go with no background and full 360° viewing... A nice chunk of driftwood as a centerpiece and maybe a water feature all around.

Thanks guys. I had covered the bottom 1/3 with black silicone to hide the layers when it was set up before. But i had used a Plexiglas divider for the water portion and I was hoping to not have quite the obvious separation this time. I may do a water fall at one end with a stream that leads to a very shallow pool at the other end. I agree, PDFs would look great in something viewed 360 degrees and from above. Always been more partial to the painted mantellas though. I want it to mimic what I saw in New Hampshire so that is my starting point. Really wish I could steal some ideas from others that have done this. Intellectual property rights are for intellectuals...which I ain't.
Thanks for the input.
If you are using a false bottom, you won't need to use plexi-glass as a divider. You can use wood to hide it![]()
maybe you could do something like this?...

Those are both sweet. Mine, however, is a 40 gallon that sits on my large coffee table...so I'm actually building the 40gal. When sitting on the couches in front of it, it will be visible from the sides and top. I'll post some pics later of how it was set up. After all the pics I've seen, I know I can do it better. It's torn down now and waiting for inspiration.
