Default Help with whites tree frog

Hellos everyone. I have a question I recently adopted a whites tree frog from a local pet store last week. He seems to be an adolescent about 2 to 3 inches in length. I've been keeping him in a zoo med 12 x12 x18 with a Eco earth coconut fiber and bottom layer and terrarium moss around his water dish. I have been feeding him 3 or 4 crickets every other day. He has been eating and heard his croaking last last 2 nights. I haven't seen a poop in his cage since Saturday and appears to be becoming more brown in color everyday. Should I be concerned?

I have heard both stress and colder weather can bring on darker colour. Your tank is only 11 gallons, and usually the rule is a min 10 gallons per frog.... but whites being bigger tend to need more. Tree Frogs also like height and usually 24 high is recommended. Maybe price a 18x18x24... its 33gallons and you might be able to get away with 2 whites frogs or a really comfy 1 XD. what is the heat and humidity levels at? also do you have lots of hideing and climbing spots/ branches/ fake or real plants. this can all reduce stress.

Taken from the Whites care sheet on here:

    Temperature Day: 29 °C (85 °F); Night: 20 - 24 °C (68 - 75 °F)

so it might be the size of terrarium or the way its set up that way be stressing him a bit... but it sounds good that he's eating and but lack of pooping isnt... Could he be impacted? What size crickets does he eat ... food should be NO longer than the width between there eyes! Also what kind of moss... could he have eaten some hunting for crickets? This can also cause impaction. Is he moving and climbing and active?

He has a piece of driftwood and a fake plant to hide in. I would like to get a new terrarium, I've been realizing that I may have been misinformed at the pet store. He has used his water dish to relieve himself since I originally posted this. He's moving to get crickets but he mostly has been hanging out near his water dishl Any idea if I should be sprinkling the crickets with vitamins before I feed him?

I'm not sure what medium means as the reptile place I go to has 4 different sizes lol... but if they aren't longer than the width between there eyes you should be good.

As for the moss... Sphagnum moss is bad for impaction as its so loose and Whites will lung at anything that moves. I would be removing it. Look into sheet moss if you desire moss but with all moss you need to be carefull. I recently put sheet moss in mine but my Greys are tong fed crickets all separately so they don't need to go hunting thought the moss for them.

Yes you need to be dusting crickets with calcium supplement and gut loading them before feeding them to your frog.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Is it possible that the frog is defecating and you simply haven't seen any of it yet? I ask simply because it sounds like he is eating and there appear to be no external signs of trauma. If you're certain that s/he is not, then I would seek advice of qualified veterinarian ASAP to avoid losing animal.
