1. What can I do to possibly increase my white's skin color to a green or turquious?
2. I think that my white's is young compared to others that I'veseen in pictures. How can I tell and do you think she's young or just different looking?
In the second picture, Nelly (My White's) is the frog to the bottom right, the brown looking frog.
Sorry for the thumbnails, they aren't supposed to be there! ;P
If I am correct from what I have read Blue phase (turqoise) whites are just lucky to be that way XD I havent read anything showing that you can change that :/ http://www.frogforum.net/tree-frogs/...lue-phase.html <<< recent post about Blue Phase
And seeing that your white is the same size of a grey I would assume it is not full grown as there should be a good inch in difference between species both full grown. (However I read just a few moments ago there are 2 species of whites and one tends to be a bit smaller so not sure lol)
Just from her size, I would say she is pretty young. Especially since she is a female and they tend to be larger. However, I did once have a male White's who never really grew to be much bigger than yours. That's not usual though, so I would just assume she is still young.
As for the coloring, there is nothing you can do to change it as long as she is living in a stress free tank with proper temps and humidity. Stress and too low temps can sometimes cause these frogs to stay dark. But if everything in her tank is good, there really isn't much you can do. The Indonesian White's tend to be darker than the Australian, so you may have an Indonesian. There is such thing as a Blue Phase White's, but they are specifically bred for their blue coloring. As long as your frog is healthy and happy, don't worry about what color she is.![]()
are you housing all your frogs together?
No I have 2 seperate tanks.
Mine all change naturally with nighttime, daytime, mood, location, temperature. I've not found a way to "keep" them green. Blue is a specific strain and is genetic.
That said, I've always found when I keep Whites in pairs, that they take opposite colors, one preferring brown, one preferring green. I have 7 now, so they all vary in colors. Dexter though is stubborn and ALWAYS brown, but the others will sometimes be neon green, and sometimes dark green.
Thats really neat! Maybe I'll get another one...![]()
As the others said, there's nothing we can do to change their color. It's all based on their mood, lighting, stress level etc.... Like Camille, I have 2 in a tank together and one is always a very pretty light green and the other is always chocolate brown. The brown frog was actually a pretty bluish green yesterday morning but it was only for a short time.
