Rubber frogs make great pets and fairly easy to care for if you have some experience. Be aware that this frog secretes some powerful cardiotoxins from its skin, so handle carefully. Handling this frog can cause skin rashes. Some additional symptoms can be contractions of the chest, respiratory difficulty, loss of balance and nausea. There was one account of a boy in South Africa experienced excruciating pain after handling the frog and then touching his eyes. Milk was poured over the affected area and pain subsided without causing ill effects.
