I mix a bit of vinegar with water about 50 50 then use that mix to clean the glass inside and outside of the aquarium. It does not seem to affect the frogs... but I was wondering if this is safe in the long run... or if anyone else does it. I only clean the glass with it. I dont use it to clean the water bowl or anything else. Just wondering.
I use vinegar water for a lot of my household and animal-related cleaning, but I use plain water for the interior of my tree frogs' vivarium. Even if the dilution is weak enough not to be a concern (and I'm not sure how weak that would have to be), I'd worry about little dribbles building up over time to create acidic spots in the soil, which might harm my plants or frogs. I've never really had trouble wiping down with water, and then a dry towel, to get the front glass clear.
If it weren't an active tank, I'd think vinegar water should be fine, because, without inhabitants, you'd be able to wash it out pretty well afterwards.
I'm sure other members on this site have more ideas/experiences with vinegar to share, though.
Fine outside but don't use it inside while frogs are living in there.
