Not being able to open his eyes unless in water, and his eyes seeming to throb or bulge, followed by the "waxy skin layer" and the fact that part of the coc fiber was totally dry in the cage it all sounds like you really had a shed problem going on and it was stressing the discomfort. Ive never heard of this in frogs (probably because they die of drying out before its a problem) but some animals can die from shedding problems.
Keep the mositure levels up and monitor the humidity.
I prefer to tong feed my animals so I can monitor what they are getting.

So heres an update. Its day 9 of a food strike, i dropped crickets in and he showed no intrest. So enough is enough i pulled out my trading cards and force fed him a good piece of worm. THe size of the length between his eyes. After it was in his mouth he scarfed it down. Is it possible he just doesnt wanna lunge at his food. Because man once it was in his mouth he ate it like it was his first meal ever.

good then keep trying.. he was too dry before.. now that he is hydrated and awake he should start eating soon.
