Hey everyone, I haven't posted here in a while. I have had my frog, Lily, for about 3 weeks now. She is still VERY shy and freezes when she sees me. Usually, if I walk over to the tank, she shrinks back down further into a hiding place. I never see her and usually have to search insanely just to get a glimpse of her. Also I have noticed that every time I see her during the day, (when she is supposed to be sleeping), she has her eyes open. Is this normal? Do they sleep with their eyes open?
Thanks!
Greys are naturally nocturnal but mine usually are awake during the day watching me or the kids... to much commotion and noise likely... but at times when its been extra quiet and I sneak over 1 of them look asleep from time to time lol...
Lily is probably just afraid of being eaten. She thinks of you as a predator, thus the freezing when you come in and shrinking to hide. She doesn't feel safe. Do you tong feed her and let her "hunt"? Perhaps if you started tong feeding her she'd associate you with food instead of "something going to possibly eat her"
My Green Tree likes to try and launch himself out of his tank when I go to feed him. Anytime I open his tank he's like "FREEEDOOOOM!!" and launches himself out. He's a goofy frog. They do sometimes sleep with their eyes open. You can tell because their pupil will be very small when they are sleeping.
Oh I didn't know that about the pupil...thanks! I kind of assumed she felt like I was a predator and was just scared, so I will try to tong feed her. Thanks for the help!
Didn't know about the pupil either thanx XD
