I have never tried this before with my FBTs, but I think a very small fish would work like a minnow or a small goldfish. I think as long as they can fit it in their mouth then it should be fine
Thanks for the advicei greatly appreciate it! I tried feeder guppies and they gobbled them up
i think im gonna stay away from goldfish as they are pretty dirty lol but i think ill check out minnows

Goldfish are ust nasty lol. That is why they need a VERY good filter in there tank... But I just adopted roughly about 14 guppies I plan to breed.. As sad as it sounds, there offspring will be a nice snack for my toads(and many will be given away im sure as these guys breed like crazy lol)
Goldfish owner here... don't nobody be talking **** about my Ryukin. Lol, jk, but seriously, if you're just going to feed some goldfish to your FBTs, they won't have long enough to be "dirty". The reason they're so dirty is that when you have an aquarium, they produce more ammonia than average per fish. Thus, you need more filters/substrate which the bacteria that transforms Ammonia into Nitrite lives in. The other reason they're "dirty" is because they tear up live plants. I highly recommend java moss.
But, back to your question, Mollies would be good, and yes, small goldfish won't actually be "dirty". And keep in mind, that, goldfish, being direct predecessors of wild carp, are very bony fish, I.E. high in calcium.
Just make sure to find some that are small enough for your FBTs!
Nothing personal!! I love my goldfish, dont get me wrong lol..but I didnt know that, I just hear people say how "dirty" they are. But thats very helpful! thanks for the goldfish info!![]()
That is a good idea to breed them. Cheap food lol. How are you breeding them? I am very interested in doing something like that. I have a small enough tank that would be good for breeding (assuming they don't require much)
I have them in a 10 gallin aquarium with a heater and will be adding a sponge filter. Mine is bare bottomed right now but im considering sand or rocks. Not sure yet. Just add adult males and females and keep temps around 70-80 and they will breed(very profolic breeders i might add) either i will add plants and lots of hidey spots for the fry(baby fish) to hide in or ill set up another guppy tank to put the fry in. Not sure which im gonna do yet lol. But there very easy to breed

awesome...let me know how well that works. I will definitely be trying that
